GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of hospital system-wide information technology systems and infrastructure. This includes the analysis, design, development, and implementation of automated information and communication systems. Work includes consulting with system users and defining needs, analyzing systems problems and designing solutions, developing systems requirements and procedures, engineering and implementing technology solutions. An incumbent researches, proposes and implements new technologies as well as evaluates and makes recommendations for needed within the hospital. Maintains updated information on trends that will affect organization's ability to succeed. Leads, plans and oversees the efforts necessary to insure compatibility, accuracy and integration of hospital systems, which support the IS strategies and tactics as they relate to the hospital mission, vision, and overall strategies. Manages the day-to-day departmental operations the assigned Information Services Department. Establishes policies, procedures. Standards and objectives as needed to support the automation of the healthcare process. Manages the installation of systems solutions and facilitates the development of educational/training programs for IS staff and healthcare professional
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, organizes and directs the daily operations of assigned staff to ensure the success of all business systems, clinical systems, application interfaces to internal and external systems, and information reporting systems.
Responsible for the fiscal administration of the department including development and adherence to the operating and capital budgets. Keeps senior management informed of new technologies that will impact capital expenditures.
Evaluates new technological advances, recommending the implementation of more efficient and effective methods, plans for the integration of different technologies to meet the information, and decision support needs of all hospital departments.
Consults with users on system requirements, organization, and operations; identifies problems, defines needs, and gathers information and data.
Responsible for the application security and disaster recovery policies and procedures. Performs appropriate system integrity monitoring and executes the disaster recovery plan.
Analyzes systems and identifies problems; reviews procedures and workflow, evaluates data, defines information requirements, designs solutions to identified and defined problems, documents analyses and evaluations.
Evaluates requests for system enhancement to information systems and helps to establish priorities.
Is responsible for areas operational excellence; ensures area delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Manages human resources to ensure quality services and promote positive employee relations.

Education
Preferred
Bachelors or better in Information Technology or related field.
